Significant Events for the month of January - 2012
The Head of Office has attended the seminar on Rural Reconstruction on the eve of Ravindranath Tagore’s 150 year birth anniversary at the ERC, Kolkata and also attended the meeting with the Director, Anthropological Survey of India regarding the progress of various national projects and other issues. The Head of Office has also attended a meeting for the preparation of the schedule-guidelines for the 12th Five year plan along with other members of the committee.
Completed the field work among the GadiaLohar under the project DNA Polymorphism and a total of 110 blood samples were collected. DNA extraction was completed for 50 blood samples while the rest are under process.
Transliteration of digitally recorded data on Nihali of Central India and the report writing are under progress.
Analysis of the data collected on Siddi community under the project "Traditional Knowledge System among Siddi community: A Primitive Tribe of Gujarat: A Psycho-ethnographic Study" is under progress.
Field work among the Meena in Sawaimadhopur and collection of blood samples and anthropometric data of 60 males and 60 females under the project DNA Polymorphism was completed.
Researchers are on a month tour to Dungarpur for the second phase of field work among the Bhil under the national project, Traditional knowledge.
The second phase of field work to Rajsamand, Surenderanagar and Junagarh districts under the national project, Traditional Knowledge is under progress.
Bio-chemical tests, PCR, PCR-RFLP of the blood samples collected in connection with the project Genetic Study of Diabetic Nephropathy patient among the Indian Population is being continued.
The second phase of field work among the Maheshwari is under progress.
During the month, 4661 Indian and 277 foreign visitors (Total No.4938) visited the Gol Museum, Shilpagram, Udaipur.
